Description
Jacques Selosse’s Marius Selosse Vieilles Vignes Blanc de Blancs Brut Nature is a rare and highly sought-after expression of Chardonnay from one of Champagne’s most celebrated domaines. Sourced from old vines and bottled without dosage, it combines precision, depth, and unmistakable personality in a style that reflects the estate’s uncompromising approach. Named in tribute to the family heritage behind the house, it stands as a distinctive piece of Selosse’s modern Champagne legacy.
Tasting Notes
In the glass, this Blanc de Blancs typically shows a fine, persistent mousse with a luminous golden hue. The bouquet is layered and expressive, moving from citrus peel, white flowers, and green orchard fruit to more savory notes of brioche, hazelnut, chalk, and subtle oxidative complexity.
On the palate, it is dry, focused, and textural, with vibrant acidity carrying flavors of lemon zest, pear, toasted almonds, and mineral tension. The Brut Nature style emphasizes purity and structure, while the old-vine fruit adds depth and concentration. This is a Champagne with excellent aging potential, likely to evolve beautifully over many years, gaining nuance and complexity.
Production
Produced from Chardonnay grown in old-vine parcels in Champagne, this cuvée reflects the character of chalk-rich terroir and the estate’s meticulous, low-intervention philosophy. Harvesting is done by hand to preserve fruit quality, and vinification is carried out with the precision and individuality for which Jacques Selosse is known. The wine is bottled as Brut Nature, meaning no dosage is added, allowing the vineyard character and fermentation-derived complexity to take center stage.
Food & Serving
This Champagne pairs beautifully with oysters, scallops, caviar, sushi, sashimi, and delicate seafood dishes, as well as roast poultry or aged hard cheeses if you want to match its breadth and complexity. Serve chilled at around 8–10°C, and consider a short decant or a few minutes in the glass to let the aromatics open fully. Its structure and concentration make it especially rewarding at the table.
Producer
Jacques Selosse is one of the most influential and revered producers in Champagne, based in Avize in the Côte des Blancs. Under the leadership of Anselme Selosse, the domaine became famous for its terroir-driven, low-intervention approach and its deeply individual style, inspiring winemakers around the world. Today, the estate remains a benchmark for expressive, artisanal Champagne and is widely regarded as one of the region’s most important names.
