Description
Château Margaux 2017 is one of Bordeaux’s most sought-after wines, combining elegance, precision, and the unmistakable refinement of a First Growth. From one of the most historic names in the Médoc, it offers a benchmark expression of Margaux’s class and longevity.
Tasting Notes
In the glass, it typically shows a deep ruby core with a bright, polished rim. The bouquet is refined and layered, with aromas of blackcurrant, cassis, violet, graphite, cedar, and subtle spice, unfolding with remarkable finesse.
On the palate, it is poised and silky, with fine tannins, fresh acidity, and concentrated dark fruit wrapped in a seamless structure. The finish is long and graceful, showing mineral lift and floral complexity. While already impressive in youth, this wine has excellent aging potential and should evolve beautifully over decades.
Production
Produced in the heart of the Margaux appellation in Bordeaux, the wine reflects gravel-rich soils that promote excellent drainage and encourage deep-rooted vines. The 2017 vintage benefited from careful vineyard management and selective harvesting, ensuring only the best fruit made it into the final blend. Vinification at this level is precise and traditional, with fermentation and élevage designed to preserve purity, structure, and the estate’s signature elegance.
Food & Serving
Best enjoyed with fine cuts of beef, lamb, venison, roast duck, or dishes with truffle and mushroom accents. Serve at 16–18°C. Decanting for 1–2 hours is recommended if opening young, to allow the wine’s aromatics and texture to fully open up.
Producer
Château Margaux is one of the most iconic estates in Bordeaux and has been recognized as a Premier Grand Cru Classé since the 1855 classification. With centuries of history, it is celebrated for producing wines of extraordinary finesse, balance, and aging capacity, and remains a reference point for top-tier Bordeaux worldwide.
