Why shop with us?
Château Margaux is one of Bordeaux’s most prestigious names, and the 2005 vintage shows exactly why the estate’s wines are so highly prized. A 1er Grand Cru Classé from Margaux, this blend of Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Cabernet Franc, and Petit Verdot combines power, finesse, and remarkable longevity in a style that has made the château legendary.
Tasting Notes
In the glass, it typically shows a deep, refined ruby color with exceptional clarity. The bouquet is layered and expressive, with notes of blackcurrant, blackberry, cedar, violets, graphite, and subtle spice, all wrapped in the estate’s trademark elegance.
On the palate, it is structured yet polished, with concentrated dark fruit, fine-grained tannins, fresh acidity, and a long, nuanced finish. The 2005 vintage is known for its balance and aging potential, and this wine should continue to evolve beautifully for many years, gaining complexity, earthiness, and silkier texture over time.
Production
Made from grapes sourced from Château Margaux’s exceptional terroir in the Médoc, the wine reflects the gravelly soils and proximity to the Gironde estuary that help create ideal ripening conditions and natural freshness. The harvest is typically carried out with great precision, often by hand and in multiple passes to ensure only perfectly ripe fruit is selected. Vinification is done with meticulous care to preserve purity, structure, and the hallmark finesse of the estate.
Food & Serving
This wine pairs beautifully with premium dishes such as filet mignon, roast lamb, duck breast, game, or truffle-infused preparations. Serve at around 16–18°C, and decant for several hours if opening now to allow the wine to fully unfold and soften.
Producer
Château Margaux is one of the most celebrated first growths in Bordeaux, with a history dating back centuries and a reputation built on elegance, precision, and longevity. Recognized as a Premier Grand Cru Classé in the 1855 Classification, the estate has long stood among the benchmark producers of the Médoc and remains one of the most admired names in fine wine worldwide.
