Description
Maison Ambroise’s Vosne-Romanée Aux Damaudes 2023 is a refined Burgundy Pinot Noir that combines ripe fruit, depth, and terroir-driven structure. Sourced from an old-vine parcel close to the Premier Cru climat Les Damodes, it reflects the house’s classic style: elegant, precise, and built for the cellar.
Tasting Notes
In the glass, the wine shows a vivid ruby hue. The nose opens with red berries and dark cherry, gradually unfolding into candied fruit, spice, and subtle leather notes with air.
The palate is generous and polished, with a supple, full-bodied texture and ripe tannins that give the wine real presence. Its spicy, juicy character is supported by depth and structure, and it has the backbone to age beautifully for 10–15 years, developing more savory complexity, forest floor, and tertiary aromas over time.
Production
The wine comes from a parcel on the edge of Nuits-Saint-Georges, near Premier Cru Les Damodes, where limestone, clay, and marl soils and a west-facing exposure help shape a Pinot Noir with both ripeness and firm structure. The vines are around 60 years old, contributing concentration and depth to the final wine.
Harvested by hand and carefully sorted, the grapes are fully destemmed before fermentation, which lasts around 25–30 days. The wine is then matured for approximately 15 months in French oak barrels, with a significant proportion of new oak, and is bottled without fining or filtration to preserve texture and authenticity.
Food & Serving
This wine pairs beautifully with duck, chicken, veal, mushroom dishes, braised meats, and firm cheeses such as Comté and Gruyère. Serve at around 16–18°C, and consider decanting for 30–60 minutes if opening young to allow the aromas to open up and the structure to soften.
