Description
Maison Ambroise Cote-de-Nuits Villages Rouge 2023 is a classic, intensely expressive Pinot Noir from one of Nuits-Saint-Georges’ most respected family domaines. It combines purity, structure and terroir character, with a precise style that reflects both the estate’s Burgundian heritage and its careful, sustainable approach to winemaking.
Tasting Notes
In the glass, the wine shows a deep ruby-red color with dark reflections. The nose is vivid and layered, offering ripe red and black berries alongside a subtle spicy edge that adds complexity.
The palate is fuller-bodied for the appellation, with a structured frame, ripe and supple tannins, and a long, harmonious finish. It has the balance and concentration to develop further over the next few years, gaining additional nuance and polish with cellaring.
Production
The wine comes from 55-year-old vines rooted in clay and limestone soils with a stony exposure, a terroir that naturally limits yields and encourages concentration. Grapes are harvested by hand, fully destemmed, and fermented over 25 to 30 days using a classic Burgundian approach. It is then aged for 13 months in French oak barrels, with 40% new oak, adding depth and texture without overshadowing the fruit.
Food & Serving
A superb match for traditional Burgundian dishes such as boeuf bourguignon, coq au vin, or chicken with mushrooms and herbs. It also pairs beautifully with veal in a creamy sauce, as well as mild to medium-aged cheeses like Comté and Brie. Serve at around 16–18°C, and consider decanting for 30–60 minutes if enjoyed young.
