Tasting Notes
In the glass, it shows a ruby-red color with violet highlights, hinting at its youthful vitality. The bouquet is classically composed and appealing, with juicy fruit at the center and lifted notes of violet, cherry, and ripe blood orange. On the palate, it is dynamic and well-structured, with a generous core of fruit and a long, balanced finish. The tannins are woven in gracefully, adding shape without overwhelming the wine’s delicate tone. Its combination of freshness, depth, and savory length gives it good immediate appeal, while the underlying structure suggests it can develop further with a few years in bottle.

Production
Rubesco 62 is made from Sangiovese grown in the highest and most historic vineyard areas of Lungarotti’s Torgiano holdings, where Rubesco has traditionally been produced. The hillside vineyards benefit from a late-September harvest, allowing the grapes to reach full ripeness while preserving freshness and natural balance. Vinification is carried out with careful attention to expressing the origin of the fruit, in line with Lungarotti’s Project 1962 philosophy, which emphasizes clarity, authenticity, and climate-resilient varieties.

Food & Serving
This is a versatile red that pairs beautifully with roasted poultry, grilled pork, pasta with rich tomato sauces, mushroom dishes, and classic Umbrian or Tuscan-style cuisine. Serve at around 16–18°C to best appreciate its fruit and structure. Decanting is not essential, but a short period in a decanter can help open the aromatics, especially if enjoyed young.
