Description

Created in 1981, Livio Felluga’s Terre Alte is a distinctive, dry white blend that brings together Friulano, Pinot Bianco and Sauvignon from the hills of Rosazzo. Its layered, mineral character reflects the region’s distinctive soils and the Felluga family’s long-standing commitment to Friulian winemaking.

Tasting Notes
An intense straw-yellow colour leads into aromas of tropical fruit, citrus and acacia blossom, with a pronounced mineral note. On the palate, Terre Alte is full-bodied and savoury, balancing ripe fruit with freshness and lively saline detail.

Production
The grapes come from the Rosazzo hills in Udine, where vines grow on Eocene flysch soils of marl and sandstone and are trained using the Guyot system. They are hand-harvested and carefully selected, then gently destemmed, briefly macerated on the skins and pressed. Each variety is fermented separately: Pinot Bianco and Sauvignon in temperature-controlled stainless steel, while Friulano ferments and matures in small French oak barrels. The wines are blended, then rested for a further nine months in temperature-controlled conditions.

Food & Serving
Its long, harmonious finish makes it a natural partner for refined seafood and fish dishes, as well as poultry and other light meats. Serve lightly chilled, around 10–12°C. Decanting is not essential, though a brief rest in the glass can allow its layered aromas to open.

Producer
Livio Felluga is a defining name in Friuli-Venezia Giulia, with six generations of family winemaking experience behind the estate. Terre Alte, first made in 1981, is one of its signature wines, expressing the Rosazzo hills and the region’s tradition of elegant, characterful whites. The 2022 vintage received the prestigious Tre Bicchieri award.
