Tasting Notes
In the glass, L’IF 2022 shows a deep, vibrant ruby-purple hue, signaling concentration and youthful intensity. The nose opens with layers of sweet red cherries, wild berries, and juicy plums, intertwined with hints of licorice, delicate spice, and a discreet frame of toasted oak that never overwhelms the fruit. On the palate, this is a medium to full-bodied wine with a silky, almost seamless texture. It feels lively and refined, with pure red and dark fruit flavors supported by fine, chalky tannins and a fresh, mineral spine. The finish is long and precise, marked by a distinctive calcareous, stony character that adds lift and complexity. Enjoyable in its youth for its vibrancy and polish, it also has excellent aging potential; under good cellaring conditions it should evolve beautifully for 12–20 years, gaining further nuance and complexity over time.

Production
L’IF is crafted from vineyards rooted in the limestone-rich soils of Saint-Émilion in Bordeaux, where the combination of chalky subsoils and well-drained slopes naturally limits vigor and concentrates flavor. The blend is typically dominated by Merlot with a significant proportion of Cabernet Franc, both hand-harvested at optimal ripeness to ensure pristine fruit selection. In the cellar, the grapes are gently vinified parcel by parcel to preserve the character of each plot, followed by élevage in carefully chosen French oak barrels, a portion of which is new, to add structure and complexity without overshadowing the purity and minerality that define the estate’s style.

Food & Serving
L’IF 2022 is a natural partner for refined, savory dishes such as roast lamb with herbs, beef tenderloin, veal chops, or duck breast, as well as truffle-inflected poultry and earthy mushroom dishes. It also pairs beautifully with aged hard cheeses like Comté or well-matured Gouda. Serve at 16–18°C (60–64°F) to highlight its freshness and aromatic detail. Young bottles will benefit from 1–2 hours of decanting to allow the oak to integrate and the mineral notes to fully unfurl; as it ages, a shorter decant to remove sediment will be sufficient.
