In the glass, the 2020 La Petite Eglise shows a deep, vibrant ruby color with youthful purple highlights, underscoring its concentration and energy. The nose opens with sweet red and black cherries, ripe berries and hints of crushed rose petals, layered over subtle notes of clay-rich earth and a touch of spice. On the palate, this is medium to full-bodied, lively and tightly knit, with a core of juicy cherry and dark berry fruit framed by fine, firm tannins. Production
La Petite Eglise comes from dedicated parcels in Pomerol, on Bordeaux’s Right Bank, where clay and gravel soils over an iron-rich subsoil give Merlot and Cabernet Franc their depth, perfume and natural richness. The fruit is harvested by hand at optimal ripeness, allowing for meticulous selection both in the vineyard and at the sorting table. In the cellar, traditional Bordeaux vinification is employed: gentle extraction in temperature-controlled vats preserves purity of fruit and fine tannin, followed by élevage in French oak barrels, often with a significant proportion of used barrels to keep the oak imprint elegant and in balance with the wine’s vibrant fruit and terroir expression.

This structured yet refined Pomerol is a natural partner for classic dishes such as roast lamb with herbs, beef tenderloin, duck breast, or veal in a red wine reduction. It also works beautifully with earthy components like wild mushrooms, truffle-infused dishes and aged hard cheeses. Serve at around 16–18°C (60–64°F) to highlight its aromatic complexity and balance. Decanting for 1–2 hours in its youth will help soften the tannins and open up the bouquet; with more bottle age, a shorter, gentle decant to remove sediment will be sufficient.
