L'Eglise Clinet lies in the heart of Pomerol on Bordeaux’s Right Bank, rooted in clay- and gravel-based soils that naturally favour Merlot and Cabernet Franc of exceptional depth and fragrance. The 2019 fruit would have been carefully harvested by hand, parcel by parcel, to ensure optimal ripeness and selection in the vineyard and at the sorting table. Vinification typically takes place in temperature-controlled vats, with gentle extraction to preserve finesse and structure, followed by aging in French oak barrels (a significant proportion new) to add complexity, polish the tannins and integrate the wine’s powerful components without overshadowing its terroir-driven character.

This is a serious, gastronomic Pomerol that shines alongside refined, richly flavoured dishes: think roast lamb with herbs, braised beef, pigeon or duck, veal with truffles, or a classic beef Wellington. Earthy accompaniments such as mushrooms, lentils and truffle-infused sauces highlight the wine’s dark, savory nuances, while aged hard cheeses or a well-selected Comté or Ossau-Iraty can also be excellent.
