Description
Le Marchesine Opera Rosè Metodo Classico Brut is a refined Italian sparkling rosé from Lombardy, crafted in the traditional method to showcase finesse, freshness, and elegance in every glass. This non-vintage cuvée brings together Pinot Blanc, Pinot Noir, and Chardonnay, all hand-harvested and pressed within just a few hours to preserve purity of fruit and precision. As a classic expression of northern Italian sparkling wine, it marries modern craftsmanship with the time-honored traditions of Metodo Classico.
Tasting Notes
In the glass, Opera Rosè presents a pale, luminous salmon-pink hue with a fine, persistent perlage that speaks to its meticulous bottle fermentation. The nose is delicate yet expressive, offering notes of wild strawberries, red currants, and pomegranate, layered with hints of citrus zest, white flowers, and a subtle brioche or toasted bread nuance from its time on the lees.
On the palate, this is a crisp, dry Brut with vibrant acidity and a silky mousse. Flavors of fresh red berries, grapefruit, and blood orange are supported by a refined mineral backbone and a clean, savory finish. The balance of fruit, freshness, and subtle autolytic complexity makes it both charming and gastronomic. As a non-vintage Metodo Classico, it is intended for enjoyment in its youthful phase for maximum vibrancy, but it can comfortably rest for a couple of years to gain a touch more creaminess and complexity.
Production
The grapes for Le Marchesine Opera Rosè are sourced from carefully selected vineyards in Lombardy, where cool nights and well-drained soils help retain acidity and aromatic intensity in the fruit. Pinot Blanc, Pinot Noir, and Chardonnay are hand-picked into small crates to protect the bunches, then swiftly transported to the cellar and vinified within 2–3 hours of harvest to preserve freshness and avoid oxidation. After a gentle pressing and temperature-controlled fermentation of the base wines, the cuvée is assembled and undergoes its second fermentation in bottle, following the Metodo Classico tradition. The wine then rests on its lees, allowing the fine bubbles and subtle bread and pastry notes to develop before disgorgement and final dosage as Brut.
Food & Serving
Opera Rosè Metodo Classico Brut is a versatile food wine, ideal as an aperitif but equally at home throughout a meal. Pair it with charcuterie, smoked salmon, tuna tartare, sushi, or shrimp and crab dishes, as well as lighter poultry, grilled vegetables, or soft cheeses like burrata and fresh goat cheese. It also works beautifully with Mediterranean starters and lightly spiced Asian cuisine. Serve well chilled at around 6–8°C (43–46°F) to highlight its freshness and fine bubbles. A brief, gentle aeration in the glass is sufficient; decanting is not necessary for this style of sparkling wine.
