Description
Le Marchesine Franciacorta Nitens Brut Magnum is a refined Italian sparkling wine from the heart of Lombardy, crafted in the traditional method to rival the great sparkling wines of the world. Presented in an impressive magnum format, it’s ideal for celebrations, generous tables, and sharing a truly elegant Franciacorta experience. Its NV (non-vintage) style ensures consistency in quality and character, year after year.
Tasting Notes
In the glass, Nitens Brut shows a bright, straw-yellow color with fine, persistent bubbles that form a delicate, continuous mousse. The nose is vibrant and inviting, offering notes of fresh citrus, green apple, and pear, layered with hints of white flowers, brioche, and a subtle mineral edge.
On the palate, this Franciacorta is dry, crisp, and finely structured, with lively acidity balanced by a creamy texture from extended lees aging. Flavors of lemon zest, stone fruit, and crunchy orchard fruit unfold into touches of toasted almond and pastry, leading to a clean, lingering finish. In magnum format, the wine often develops a little more complexity and freshness over time, making it enjoyable now but also capable of evolving gracefully over the next few years if well cellared.
Production
Le Marchesine Franciacorta Nitens Brut is crafted in the rolling hills of Franciacorta in Lombardy, an area defined by glacial moraines, well-draining soils, and a temperate climate moderated by nearby Lake Iseo. Typically based on classic Franciacorta varieties such as Chardonnay with possible additions of Pinot Noir and Pinot Bianco, the grapes are harvested by hand to ensure optimal ripeness and careful selection. After gentle pressing, the base wines are fermented in temperature-controlled tanks, then blended across different vintages to achieve the house style. The second fermentation takes place in bottle (traditional method), followed by an extended period resting on the lees, which contributes to its fine mousse, complexity, and subtle toasty notes before disgorgement and dosage to a Brut level.
Food & Serving
This Franciacorta Nitens Brut Magnum is a versatile partner at the table, pairing beautifully with oysters, shrimp, sushi, and crudo, as well as delicate fish dishes, seafood risotto, and light poultry or veal. It also complements soft cheeses and elegant antipasti. Serve well-chilled at around 6–8°C (43–46°F) to highlight its freshness and precision. A brief 10–15 minutes in the glass is enough for the wine to open up; decanting is not necessary, but pouring into proper tulip-shaped sparkling glasses will best showcase its aromas and fine bubbles.
