Tasting Notes
In the glass, expect a deep amber-gold whisky with excellent viscosity. The nose is classic Laphroaig, opening with dense peat smoke, sea spray, iodine, and charred oak, followed by layers of dried fruit, vanilla, leather, and warm spice as it breathes. On the palate, it is intensely expressive and structured, balancing smoky medicinal notes with rich sweetness, citrus peel, toasted oak, pepper, and a lingering maritime edge. The cask strength bottling gives it considerable impact, but also impressive complexity and length. With this level of maturity, it is drinking beautifully now, though it will continue to evolve in the glass rather than in bottle.
