Langoa Barton 2021 is a классic Saint-Julien from one of Bordeaux’s most respected family-owned estates, offering the refinement and structure that have made the château a benchmark in the Médoc. Tasting Notes
In the glass, it typically shows a deep ruby colour with youthful brightness and a firm core. The nose leans toward blackcurrant, blackberry, cedar, pencil shavings, and subtle floral notes, with the Bordeaux signature of fresh herbs and graphite adding complexity. On the palate, 2021 is expected to be elegant rather than powerful, with fine-grained tannins, vibrant acidity, and a balanced mix of dark fruit, tobacco, and savoury spice. It should already show charm with aeration, but it also has the structure to develop beautifully over the next decade or more, gaining more earthy, cedar-led complexity with age.

Production
Langoa Barton comes from Saint-Julien in the Médoc, where gravelly soils provide excellent drainage and help Cabernet Sauvignon ripen with clarity and finesse. The blend of Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, and Cabernet Franc reflects the classic Left Bank style, with grapes typically harvested parcel by parcel to preserve freshness and terroir expression. Vinification follows the estate’s traditional Bordeaux approach, aiming to build precision, balance, and ageing potential rather than excessive extraction.

Food & Serving
This is an excellent match for roasted lamb, beef fillet, duck breast, game birds, or mushroom-based dishes, as well as mature hard cheeses. Serve at around 16–18°C, and decant for 1–2 hours if drinking young to allow the wine to open and soften.
