La Spinetta Barbera d'Alba Superiore Gallina is a vivid expression of Barbera from one of Piedmont’s most respected names. Crafted with organic principles and the Rivetti family’s signature precision, it combines generous fruit, depth, and freshness in a style that has helped define modern Piemonte winemaking since 1977.

Tasting Notes
In the glass, it shows a deep purple-red colour. The nose is inviting and expressive, with aromas of small red berries, ripe plums, and delicate violet notes. On the palate, it is broad and well balanced, with an energetic Barbera freshness framed by persistent balsamic tones and a layer of blackberry jam. The wine’s structure and concentration give it excellent cellaring potential for a Barbera, allowing the fruit to evolve while retaining its lively character. The oak ageing adds polish and complexity without overshadowing the grape’s natural vibrancy.

Production
Sourced from the Gallina area in Piedmont, this Barbera benefits from a terroir well suited to producing wines with both richness and acidity. The grapes are macerated and undergo alcoholic fermentation in temperature-controlled tanks for around nine days, helping preserve aromatic purity and freshness. The wine is then matured for approximately 12 months in French oak barrels, with about 30% new oak and the rest second-use barrels, adding subtle spice and structure.

Food & Serving
This is an excellent match for rich Italian dishes such as beef ragù, braised meats, mushroom risotto, and roasted game birds. It also pairs beautifully with aged cheeses and tomato-based pastas. Serve at around 16–18°C, and decanting for 30–60 minutes is recommended to let the wine fully open.
