Krug Grande Cuvée 166ème Édition is the house’s signature prestige Champagne, created to embody Joseph Krug’s original dream: to craft the finest Champagne every year, regardless of vintage variation. Reassembled from a blend of multiple years and varietals, it offers remarkable depth, precision, and harmony in a style that has defined Krug since 1843.

Tasting Notes
In the glass, it shows a beautiful pale golden hue with fine, lively bubbles that promise both energy and elegance. The nose opens with floral tones, ripe dried citrus, marzipan, and gingerbread, unfolding into a layered and expressive bouquet. On the palate, it is rich and creamy yet beautifully lifted, with notes of hazelnut, nougat, citrus jelly, almonds, brioche, and honey. The balance between opulence and freshness gives the wine tremendous complexity and length. While wonderfully approachable now, it also has the structure and depth to evolve gracefully over time.

Production
Krug Grande Cuvée is built from a meticulous selection of wines from Chardonnay, Pinot Noir, and Pinot Meunier, sourced across multiple vintages to achieve the highest possible complexity and consistency. The blend is assembled to preserve harmony, with no single element allowed to dominate the final wine. After blending, it spends around seven years aging in Krug’s cellars, which adds finesse, texture, and its unmistakable layered style.

Food & Serving
This Champagne is exceptionally versatile at the table and pairs beautifully with seafood, lobster, scallops, truffle dishes, mature hard cheeses, and refined poultry dishes. Serve chilled at around 9–12°C, and consider a brief decant only if you want to emphasize its broader aromatic dimensions, though it is not necessary.
