Krug Clos d’Ambonnay Blanc de Noirs Trilogie is an exceptionally rare collector’s set showcasing three celebrated vintages of one of Champagne’s most coveted single-vineyard cuvées: 1996, 1998, and 2000. Presented in its original wooden case, this trilogy brings together the purity, depth, and precision that have made Clos d’Ambonnay a benchmark for Pinot Noir–driven Champagne.
Tasting Notes
Clos d’Ambonnay typically pours with a refined golden hue and a remarkably fine, persistent mousse. The bouquet is layered and expressive, combining citrus peel, ripe orchard fruit, toasted brioche, almond, chalk, and subtle red berry nuances from the Pinot Noir character.
On the palate, it is powerful yet impeccably poised, with concentrated fruit, creamy texture, vivid mineral tension, and a long, saline finish. The three vintages offer a fascinating study in evolution and nuance, and each has the structure and balance to age gracefully for many years to come.
Production
Clos d’Ambonnay comes from a tiny walled vineyard in Ambonnay, one of Champagne’s most prized Pinot Noir villages. The terroir is defined by chalk-rich soils and an exposure that supports exceptional ripeness while preserving freshness. Grapes are carefully hand-harvested, and Krug vinifies each vintage with meticulous attention to detail, using the house’s hallmark precision and long cellar aging to build complexity and finesse.
Food & Serving
This Champagne is best served well chilled at around 8–10°C and does not require decanting. It pairs beautifully with delicate, luxurious dishes such as lobster, langoustines, scallops, truffled poultry, or fine sushi, and can also be enjoyed on its own to fully appreciate its depth and complexity.
Producer
Champagne Krug was founded in 1843 and has long been regarded as one of the great names in Champagne, renowned for its uncompromising quality and richly expressive style. The house is especially admired for its artistry in blending and its ability to create wines of remarkable individuality, while Clos d’Ambonnay stands as one of its most exclusive and prestigious achievements.
