Kosta Browne’s Santa Rita Hills Pinot Noir 2022 is a refined, site-driven expression of one of California’s most celebrated cool-climate regions. Sourced from six top vineyards, including Bentrock, Mt. Carmel and John Sebastiano, it combines elegance, lift and detail with the depth and precision that have made Kosta Browne a benchmark producer in Sonoma and beyond.

Tasting Notes
In the glass, it shows a beautiful ruby-red colour that hints at its freshness and finesse. The nose is aromatic and layered, with ripe strawberry, raspberry and cranberry lifted by tea leaf, basil and rose petal notes. The palate is vibrant and pure, echoing the bouquet with juicy red berry fruit, subtle herbal nuances and a silky texture. Its long, lively finish leaves a fresh, mouthwatering impression, and while it is already highly enjoyable, it should gain further complexity with a few years of careful cellaring.

Production
The grapes come from six distinguished vineyards in Santa Rita Hills, a cool coastal terroir shaped by ocean influence, diurnal shifts and well-drained soils that naturally favour finesse and aromatic precision. After harvest and hand sorting, winemaker Julien Howsepian retained 10% whole clusters, with the rest de-stemmed; fermentation took place mostly in open stainless-steel tanks, while a little over 20% fermented in wood. The wine was then matured for 14 months in a combination of French and Austrian oak, including 17% new barrels.

Food & Serving
This Pinot Noir pairs beautifully with roast duck, herb-crusted lamb, grilled salmon, mushroom risotto or dishes with earthy, savoury depth. Serve slightly chilled at around 14–16°C, and consider a brief decant if opening young, though it is also lovely straight from the bottle.
