Tasting Notes
In the glass, it shows a vibrant ruby hue that signals freshness and purity. The nose is layered and expressive, opening with blueberry, raspberry jam, blood orange, black tea, licorice, violets, and a subtle touch of vanilla from the oak. On the palate, it is full-bodied in an elegant, seamless style, with ripe fruit at the core and a beautifully structured frame of fresh tannins. The 2020 vintage already offers impressive harmony, but it should also reward cellaring over the next several years as the fruit and spice notes gain even more depth and complexity.

Production
This wine comes from Gap’s Crown Vineyard, a prized site in the southern Sonoma Coast known for producing Pinot Noir with power, brightness, and detail. Kosta Browne has sourced from the vineyard since 2006, and Julien Howsepian’s winemaking includes around 10% whole clusters to add complexity and lift. After pressing, fermentation takes place primarily in open stainless-steel tanks, followed by 15 months of maturation in French oak barrels, 43% of which are new.

This Pinot Noir pairs beautifully with roasted duck, mushroom risotto, salmon, pork tenderloin, or game birds, as well as earthy vegetarian dishes. Serve slightly chilled, ideally around 16–18°C, and consider decanting for 30–45 minutes if serving young to help the wine open fully and show its aromatic range.
