Tasting Notes
In the glass, it is deeply colored, almost black in appearance, setting the stage for a wine of serious concentration. The nose is intensely layered with blackcurrant, blackberry, blood orange, black pepper, smoked meat, licorice, tar, and dark earth, creating a vivid and unmistakably Syrah-driven aromatic profile. The palate mirrors the nose with striking clarity, led by dark fruit and savory smoked-meat notes, then expanding into dried Provençal herbs and spice. Rich, structured, and persistent, it finishes with extraordinary length and focus. Though already impressive now, it has the structure and balance to evolve beautifully for 20 years or more.

Production
The grapes come from the Kongsgaard parcel within the celebrated Hudson Vineyard in Carneros, an area known for its cool-climate influence and ability to produce Syrah with both intensity and freshness. The site has been farmed by the Kongsgaard family for two decades, and the resulting wines have continued to gain in precision and character over time. Detailed vinification information is not provided, but the wine clearly reflects meticulous vineyard work and a highly selective approach in the cellar.

Food & Serving
This Syrah pairs beautifully with richly flavored dishes such as grilled lamb, braised short ribs, venison, roasted game birds, or smoked meats. It also works well with dishes featuring black olives, rosemary, or peppery sauces. Serve at around 16–18°C, and decanting for 1–2 hours is recommended if drinking young to allow the aromas and structure to open fully.
