Tasting Notes
In the glass, the King’s Farm Red 2020 shows a deep ruby to garnet color with a vibrant hue at the rim, hinting at both concentration and youth. The nose is layered and expressive: ripe blackcurrants, black cherries and plum are wrapped in notes of violet, graphite, cedar, baking spices and a subtle touch of cocoa and dried herbs. On the palate, this wine is full-bodied yet poised, with dark berry and cherry fruit at the core, framed by well-integrated oak and polished tannins. Flavors of blackberry, cassis and redcurrant mingle with hints of mocha, tobacco leaf and sweet spice, finishing long and savoury with a refreshing lift of acidity. Sourced from select vineyard sites in Napa Valley, King’s Farm Red benefits from the region’s classic Mediterranean climate: warm, sunny days tempered by cool nights, allowing for slow, even ripening and excellent balance between sugar, tannin and acidity. Grapes are typically harvested by hand at optimal maturity, with careful sorting to ensure only pristine fruit reaches the cellar. Vinification follows a traditional Bordelais-inspired approach—gentle crushing, temperature-controlled fermentation, and extended maceration to extract color, aroma and fine tannins—before aging in French oak barrels, a portion of which is new, to add complexity and texture without overwhelming the purity of fruit.

Food & Serving
This is a versatile, food-friendly Napa red that shines alongside richly flavored dishes. Think grilled ribeye, roast lamb, braised short ribs, duck breast or game, as well as mushroom risotto, truffle pasta, aged hard cheeses and charcuterie. Serve at 16–18°C (60–65°F) for optimal expression; if the wine is young and just opened, a short decant of 30–60 minutes helps open up the aromatics and soften the tannins. In its first few years, a bit of air will accentuate the fruit and spice; as it ages, a gentle pour and slightly cooler serving temperature will highlight its evolving complexity.
