Description

Kissinger-Bähr Null Ohm weiß Bio 2024 is a characterful Rheinhessen blend of Chardonnay and Pinot Blanc, presented here in a generous magnum. Its appeal lies in the contrast between the Pinot Blanc’s breadth and the Chardonnay’s freshness, with a restrained, minimal-intervention style that lets the wine’s savoury edge show.

Tasting Notes
Expect a pale, bright appearance. The nose is notably spicy and subtly smoky, with a reductive, struck-flint character alongside lime and apple skin. On the palate, freshness and a gently saline impression balance the wine’s structure and fruit.

Production
The cuvée draws on contrasting Rheinhessen sites: Pinot Blanc from Uelversheim, where loess and clay contribute structure and substance, and Chardonnay from limestone-rich soils along the Rhine front, lending freshness and finesse. The producer’s description for the 2023 cuvée notes biodynamic vineyard practices, spontaneous fermentation in 225- and 500-litre wooden barrels, around ten months on full lees, and bottling unfiltered with minimal sulphur; details may vary for the 2024 vintage.

Food & Serving
Serve at around 10–12°C with roast chicken, grilled white fish, creamy vegetable dishes or aged hard cheese. Its savoury, lightly smoky character also suits mushroom dishes. Pouring into a carafe shortly before serving can help the wine open up, especially if its reductive notes are pronounced.
