Description

Kellerei Bozen Rosis Moscato Rosa 2023 (0.375L) is a rare and captivating sweet rosé from the alpine slopes of Trentino-Alto Adige in Northern Italy. Crafted from the elusive Moscato Rosa grape, this half-bottle delivers an intensely fragrant yet beautifully balanced expression ideal for special moments, desserts, or contemplative sipping. Its combination of mountain freshness, floral perfume, and natural sweetness makes it a standout choice for those seeking something both refined and distinctive. Moscato Rosa is one of Italy’s rarest and most characterful varieties, originally from Sicily and cultivated in South Tyrol since the mid-19th century. Rosis showcases this grape’s full aromatic charm—evoking fresh berries and rose petals—while maintaining elegance and poise, a hallmark of Kellerei Bozen’s meticulous winemaking tradition.

Tasting Notes
In the glass, Rosis Moscato Rosa presents a luminous, deep rosé hue—shimmering between bright cherry and ruby-tinged pink, with a seductive, almost jewel-like clarity. The appearance already hints at concentration and aromatic intensity. The nose is highly perfumed and expressive, with pronounced notes of rose petals, wild strawberries, raspberries, and red currants, layered with hints of lychee, orange blossom, and a touch of exotic spice. On the palate, the wine is sweet but not cloying: soft and mouth-filling with a velvety texture, balanced by fresh acidity that keeps it lively and precise. Flavors of fresh red berries, pomegranate, and candied violets unfold alongside subtle herbal nuances and a gentle, lingering floral note on the finish. Thanks to its natural acidity and concentration, this Moscato Rosa can develop gracefully for several years in bottle, gaining complexity in its bouquet while retaining its core freshness.

Production
The grapes for Rosis Moscato Rosa are sourced from carefully selected hillside vineyards around Bolzano in Trentino-Alto Adige, where warm days and cool nights enhance aromatic development while preserving acidity. The alpine terroir—characterized by well-drained, mineral-rich soils and significant diurnal temperature swings—helps the Moscato Rosa grape reach both full aromatic ripeness and structural balance. Harvesting is typically done by hand to allow strict selection of perfectly ripe, healthy berries, crucial for this delicate, aromatic variety. In the cellar, gentle pressing and a cool, controlled fermentation help to preserve the intense floral and berry aromatics. Fermentation is halted early to retain natural grape sugars, resulting in a sweet yet finely balanced wine with moderate alcohol and a pure, varietal expression.

Food & Serving
Rosis Moscato Rosa is a beautiful partner to fruit-based desserts such as strawberry tarts, raspberry coulis, panna cotta with red berries, or poached stone fruits. It pairs equally well with dark chocolate mousse, berry pavlova, or lightly spiced desserts featuring cinnamon or cardamom. For a more adventurous match, try it with blue cheeses or aged, slightly salty hard cheeses, where the sweetness of the wine plays against the savory, tangy notes. Serve well-chilled at around 8–10°C (46–50°F) to highlight its freshness and perfume. Decanting is not necessary, but allowing the wine a few minutes in the glass to warm slightly from fridge temperature will help the aromatics fully open.
