Jordan Nine Yards Chardonnay 2024

Jordan Nine Yards Chardonnay 2024 is a refined, full-bodied South African white wine from the family-owned Jordan Wine Estate in Stellenbosch. Combining ripe fruit, creamy texture, lively freshness and pronounced mineral character, it showcases the estate’s elegant approach to Chardonnay and the distinctive influence of Stellenbosch’s cool, maritime-influenced vineyards.

Tasting Notes
Bright and inviting in the glass, this Chardonnay opens with layered aromas of ripe peach, fresh citrus and buttery richness, complemented by subtle spice and delicate toasted notes. The palate is generous and creamy, with excellent concentration balanced by vibrant acidity and a distinct mineral edge. Long and persistent, the finish brings together citrus freshness, refined oak and elegant roasted nuances. Its structure and freshness allow it to develop further in bottle over the medium term.

Production
The grapes come from east-facing vineyards on the slopes of Stellenbosch, planted at approximately 250–280 metres above sea level. A cool Mediterranean climate, regular maritime breezes and morning fog help moderate ripening and preserve natural acidity, while weathered granite soils contribute to the wine’s mineral precision. After destemming and pressing, fermentation takes place in French oak barrels, including a proportion of new oak, using both selected and indigenous yeasts. The wine is then matured for ten months on fine lees, enhancing its texture, complexity and integration.

Food & Serving
Serve lightly chilled at around 10–12°C. Its richness and mineral freshness make it an excellent partner for shellfish, lobster, creamy seafood dishes, firm-fleshed fish baked in a salt crust and dishes featuring black rice. It also pairs beautifully with mature and hard cheeses. Decanting is not essential, but a short period of aeration in a carafe can help reveal the wine’s layered aromas and subtle oak character.
