Johannes Zillinger’s 2019 NUMEN Muskateller is a premium Weinviertel expression of Gelber Muskateller, made to show the grape beyond its sometimes overly perfumed reputation. Its natural approach and distinctive amphora ageing give this bottling a character that may appeal even to drinkers who are usually wary of aromatic varieties.

Production
The Muskateller comes from some of Weingut Johannes Zillinger’s oldest vineyard parcels, though further details of their soils and the harvest are not provided. Zillinger farms biodynamically and makes the NUMEN wines with minimal intervention: fermentation takes place intracellularly, followed by ageing in clay amphorae, without additives, fining or filtration.
