Description

Jermann Pinot Bianco 2024 is a refined expression of one of Italy’s most understated white grape varieties, crafted by one of Friuli’s most respected producers. This wine combines purity, precision and elegance, showcasing Pinot Bianco in a distinctly Northern Italian style. Its unique selling point lies in the balance between bright, alpine freshness and subtle complexity, making it as food-friendly as it is enjoyable on its own. Pinot Bianco has a long history in Friuli-Venezia Giulia, and Jermann has been instrumental in elevating the region’s reputation for world-class white wines.

Tasting Notes
In the glass, Jermann Pinot Bianco 2024 typically shows a pale straw to light lemon color with greenish reflections, highlighting its youth and freshness. The nose is clean and inviting, with aromas of crisp green apple, pear, white peach and citrus zest, supported by hints of white flowers, delicate herbs and a subtle mineral nuance. On the palate, expect a medium-bodied wine with refreshing, well-defined acidity and a silky, almost creamy texture. Flavors of orchard fruits and citrus are joined by notes of almond, light spice and wet stone, leading to a precise, mouthwatering finish. This 2024 vintage is meant to be enjoyed in its youthful, vibrant phase over the next 2–4 years, although careful cellaring may bring out more nutty, honeyed and mineral complexity with time.

Production
Jermann sources Pinot Bianco from carefully selected vineyards in Friuli-Venezia Giulia, a region known for its cool Alpine breezes, proximity to the Adriatic Sea and well-drained marl and sandstone soils (locally called ponca). These conditions help preserve acidity and aromatic freshness while allowing full flavor development. Grapes are typically harvested by hand at optimal ripeness to maintain both concentration and finesse. In the cellar, Jermann favors a precise, protective vinification: gentle pressing, cool-temperature fermentation in stainless steel and maturation on fine lees to enhance texture and complexity without overt oak influence. The result is a wine that speaks clearly of its grape and terroir.

Food & Serving
This Pinot Bianco is a versatile partner at the table and shines with delicate to medium-intensity dishes. Ideal pairings include seafood crudo, grilled fish, shellfish, risotto with spring vegetables, light poultry dishes, fresh goat cheese and mild cow’s milk cheeses, as well as simple antipasti and salads. Serve well-chilled but not icy, ideally around 8–10 °C (46–50 °F) to allow its aromatics to open. Decanting is generally not necessary; simply open the bottle a few minutes before serving and pour into medium-sized white wine glasses for best expression.

Producer
Jermann is one of the benchmark names in Friuli-Venezia Giulia and a key figure in establishing the region’s reputation for top-quality white wines on the international stage. Founded in the late 19th century by the Jermann family of Austrian-Slovenian origin, the estate has grown from a small family farm into a leading winery, known for its meticulous vineyard work and precise, expressive whites. Based primarily in the Collio and Isonzo areas, Jermann has earned critical acclaim for its focus on terroir-driven wines and has played an important role in showing how varieties like Pinot Bianco, Friulano and international grapes can reach exceptional quality in Friuli’s unique climate and soils.
