Description

Jean-Marc Bouley Pommard Cuvée Léonie 1er Cru 2012 is a fine-expression Burgundy Pinot Noir from one of Pommard’s most respected Premier Cru sites. Combining depth, structure, and classic Côte de Beaune elegance, it reflects both the power of the appellation and the finesse of a carefully crafted vintage.

Tasting Notes
In the glass, this wine shows a deep ruby color, hinting at its concentration and aging potential. The bouquet is layered and inviting, with dark cherry, blackberry, violets, spice, forest floor, and a subtle touch of oak from élevage. On the palate, it is powerful yet balanced, with fine, ripe tannins and a long, persistent finish. The 2012 vintage brought concentration and precision, giving the wine impressive harmony, mineral lift, and the potential to evolve beautifully over 15–20 years with proper cellaring.

Production
Made from 100% hand-harvested Pinot Noir sourced from selected Premier Cru vineyards in Pommard, the wine benefits from the appellation’s renowned terroir of limestone and clay soils, which lend structure, depth, and a distinct mineral character. The 2012 growing season was challenging, but careful vineyard work helped preserve healthy, high-quality fruit with strong aromatic intensity. Vinification and maturation were managed to highlight purity, texture, and the layered complexity typical of great Pommard.

Food & Serving
This is an excellent match for grilled beef, game, lamb shank or leg of lamb, and mature cheeses. Serve at 16–18°C, and decant for around one hour before drinking to allow the aromas and flavors to खुल fully and soften the wine’s youthful structure.
