Description
Janzen Beckstoffer Missouri Hopper Vineyard Cabernet Sauvignon 2018 is a bold yet finely composed Napa Valley Cabernet from one of Oakville’s most respected vineyard sites. Made from 100% Cabernet Sauvignon, it delivers impressive depth and power while remaining polished, balanced, and beautifully controlled. The wine’s lineage from the acclaimed Missouri Hopper Vineyard gives it both site character and serious aging pedigree.
Tasting Notes
In the glass, it shows the deep, opaque color you expect from a serious Cabernet Sauvignon. The nose is layered with ripe blackcurrant, cassis liqueur, red currant, leather, tobacco, toasted bread, dark-roasted coffee, and a touch of subtle oak.
On the palate, it is full-bodied and concentrated, with velvety tannins that frame the wine rather than dominate it. Despite its richness, it stays remarkably balanced and round, with plenty of freshness beneath the power. It is already enjoyable now, but it has the structure and depth to evolve gracefully for up to 20 years.
Production
This Cabernet Sauvignon comes from Missouri Hopper Vineyard in the southern part of Oakville, one of Napa Valley’s most prized terroirs for Cabernet. The site is known for producing wines with impressive ripeness, structure, and complexity, and the 2018 vintage benefits from the vineyard’s deep intensity and classic Oakville finesse. As a 100% Cabernet Sauvignon, the wine is made to emphasize purity of fruit, texture, and the character of the vineyard site.
Food & Serving
This is an excellent match for prime rib, grilled ribeye, braised short ribs, lamb chops, or richly flavored mushroom dishes. It also pairs well with aged hard cheeses and dishes featuring black truffle or roasted herbs. Serve at around 16–18°C, and consider decanting for 1–2 hours if drinking young to help the wine fully open up.
Producer
Bacio Divino is known for crafting expressive, premium California wines with a strong focus on quality and balance. The producer has built a reputation for working with outstanding vineyard sources and producing wines that show both richness and restraint. In the context of Napa Valley, its site-driven bottlings stand out for their polish, concentration, and cellar-worthy structure.
