Jaffelin VDF Chardonnay Blanc 2025 is a fresh, approachable Chardonnay that highlights pure fruit and easy-drinking charm. Sourced from southern France and crafted by the historic Maison Jaffelin in Beaune, it combines ripe Mediterranean generosity with the poise and finesse Burgundy is known for. As a Vin de France, it offers a modern, fruit-forward style that is both accessible and beautifully balanced.
Tasting Notes
In the glass, this Chardonnay shows a pale golden color with a bright, inviting sheen. The nose is expressive and clean, offering citrus, green apple, ripe pear, and white peach, with a subtle mineral edge that keeps the aromatics lively.
On the palate it is soft, fresh, and harmonious, with juicy fruit, a rounded texture, and a crisp line of acidity that gives the wine shape and lift. The finish is elegant and lightly mineral, making this a very drinkable style of Chardonnay with good immediate appeal. It is best enjoyed young, while its freshness and vibrant fruit are at their peak, though it should hold nicely over the short to medium term.
Production
Made under the Vin de France classification from Chardonnay grapes grown in southern France, the wine benefits from a warmer climate that naturally encourages ripe fruit and a supple, generous style. Maison Jaffelin focuses on preserving freshness and varietal character, with vinification carried out primarily in stainless steel to maintain the grape’s natural purity and lively acidity.
Food & Serving
This is a versatile white wine that works well with grilled fish, shellfish, roast chicken, light pasta dishes, and salads with creamy or citrus-based dressings. Serve chilled at around 8–10°C. Decanting is not necessary; simply open and enjoy to capture its freshness and expressive fruit.
Producer
Maison Jaffelin is one of Burgundy’s oldest négociant houses, based in Beaune since 1816 and housed in the historic Caves du Chapitre beneath Notre-Dame de Beaune. Known for small-scale production and a refined Burgundian sensibility, the house balances tradition with a modern emphasis on precision and terroir expression. Its reputation has been strengthened by careful cellar modernization and the work of oenologist Marinette Garnier, whose background includes experience with Comtes Lafon and Méo-Camuzet.
