Description

Jacquesson’s Extra-Brut Cuvée N°743 Dégorgement Tardif is a standout Champagne for those who appreciate precision, depth, and extended lees aging. Built on the house’s celebrated numbered cuvée concept, it offers the elegance of a non-vintage blend with the complexity and finesse that only long maturation can deliver.

Tasting Notes
In the glass, it shows a refined, luminous pale gold color with a persistent, ultra-fine mousse. The nose is layered and expressive, moving from citrus peel, white flowers, and orchard fruit into more evolved notes of brioche, hazelnut, spice, and subtle honeyed richness from its extended time on lees. The palate is dry, focused, and beautifully textured, with crisp acidity carrying flavors of lemon, green apple, pear, toasted almonds, and chalky minerality. The extended lees aging adds depth, salinity, and a creamy, seamless mouthfeel, while the extra-brut style keeps everything taut and elegant. It has excellent aging potential and can continue to develop greater nuance over time.

Production
Produced in Champagne from a blend of Chardonnay, Pinot Noir, and Pinot Meunier, this cuvée reflects Jacquesson’s terroir-driven approach and commitment to low-intervention winemaking. The wine spends a notably extended period on the lees before disgorgement, allowing the second fermentation in bottle to build complexity, finer bubbles, and pronounced autolytic character. The result is a Champagne that balances freshness with remarkable maturity and precision.

Food & Serving
Serve chilled at around 8–10°C to preserve its tension and aromatic detail. It pairs beautifully with oysters, shellfish, sushi, sashimi, tempura, roast chicken, or aged hard cheeses, and it is also excellent on its own as an aperitif. Decanting is not necessary, but giving it a few minutes in the glass can help the more nuanced aromas unfold.

Producer
Champagne Jacquesson is one of Champagne’s most respected grower-producers, known for its artisanal philosophy, exacting standards, and focus on expressing vineyard character rather than house style alone. Based in Dizy, the estate has earned a strong reputation for its acclaimed 700-series cuvées, which have become benchmarks for thoughtful, terroir-conscious Champagne. Jacquesson is especially admired for combining tradition, restraint, and innovation in equal measure.
