Tasting Notes
In the glass, it shows a deep ruby colour with a vibrant, polished edge. The nose is beautifully layered, offering blackcurrant, ripe plum, violet, cedar, and a subtle graphite note, with hints of spice and fine oak in the background. On the palate, the wine is supple yet precise, with finely etched tannins, fresh acidity, and a graceful core of dark berries, floral nuances, and savoury complexity. The finish is long and poised, suggesting excellent aging potential over the coming decade or more, where it should gain even more harmony and aromatic depth.

Produced in the Margaux appellation of Bordeaux, Château d’Issan benefits from gravelly soils that encourage drainage and help Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot achieve balance, concentration, and aromatic purity. The 2019 vintage was carefully harvested to preserve freshness and optimal ripeness, with vinification carried out to emphasize finesse, structure, and the estate’s signature elegance.

This wine pairs beautifully with roast lamb, duck breast, beef tenderloin, or game dishes such as venison. Serve at 16–18°C, and decant for 1–2 hours if drinking young to allow the aromatics and texture to open fully.
