Description

Isole e Olena’s 2022 Cepparello is a Tuscan benchmark made entirely from Sangiovese, offering the grape’s character in an elegant, approachable style. This vintage also marks a new chapter for the historic estate following its move from the De Marchi family to France’s EPI Group.

Tasting Notes
The wine shows dark cherry and blackcurrant, with warming spice and a distinctive hint of orris root. Concentrated yet graceful, it has lively freshness and an inviting character; the 2022 is generous in flavour, though less deep and persistent than some earlier vintages.

Production
The Sangiovese comes from vineyards on the rolling hills between the hamlets of Isole and Olena. Well-drained galestro schist soils, open exposures and gentle breezes help preserve freshness in the fruit. Fermentation takes place in conical vessels, followed by 18 months of ageing in a combination of barriques, tonneaux and large casks.

Food & Serving
Serve at around 16–18°C with roast lamb, grilled steak, game or aged Pecorino. A little time in a decanter can help open the wine’s fruit and spice, particularly if you are enjoying it young.

Isole e Olena is a historic Tuscan estate whose name joins the two small villages around its vineyards. Its Cepparello bottling is an iconic expression of Sangiovese, and the 2022 vintage arrives after the estate’s change of ownership from the De Marchi family to EPI Group.
