Description
Inglenook Cabernet Sauvignon 2018 is a classic Napa Valley Cabernet from one of California’s most storied estates. Made from carefully selected grapes grown in Inglenook’s own Rutherford vineyards, it combines purity of fruit, fine structure, and the kind of elegance that has made Inglenook a benchmark name for generations.
Tasting Notes
In the glass, it shows a deep garnet to purple hue, hinting at its concentration and depth. The nose is layered with blackcurrant, plum, cassis, and dark cherry, lifted by notes of tobacco, pencil lead, cocoa, forest floor, and a subtle herbal edge.
On the palate, the wine is medium- to full-bodied with a polished, structured feel. The fruit core is supported by ripe tannins and a fresh, focused finish, giving it both immediate appeal and strong cellaring potential. This is a Cabernet built to evolve beautifully over the next 15 to 20 years.
Production
The wine comes from Inglenook’s estate vineyards in Rutherford, one of Napa Valley’s most prized terroirs, known for its warm days, cooling evening influence, and well-drained soils that suit Cabernet Sauvignon exceptionally well. The grapes are handpicked with careful selection, and vinification is carried out gently to preserve finesse and aromatic purity. It is then matured for 18 months in a combination of French and American oak barrels, adding complexity without overpowering the fruit.
Food & Serving
This Cabernet Sauvignon pairs beautifully with grilled ribeye, roast lamb, beef short ribs, game, and hard aged cheeses. Serve it at 16–18°C and consider decanting for 1–2 hours if drinking young, as this will help the wine open up and show its full aromatic range.
Producer
Inglenook was founded in 1879 by Gustave Niebaum, a Finnish sea captain and wine connoisseur who set out to create a world-class estate in Napa Valley. The property gained legendary status under John Daniel Jr., whose 1941 vintage became one of California’s most celebrated wines. Today, the estate is owned by Francis Ford Coppola and remains an icon of Rutherford, admired for its historic legacy, organic viticulture, and consistently highly rated wines.
