Inama Campo del Lago Merlot 2022

Inama Campo del Lago Merlot is a refined Veneto red that shows the elegance and character for which the Berici Hills are known. Crafted from a Merlot-led blend with Cabernet Sauvignon, it combines supple fruit, freshness, and a distinctly earthy side, all shaped by more than fifty years of family winemaking at Inama.

Tasting Notes
In the glass, it presents a deep dark-red color, inviting and concentrated. The nose is expressive and layered, with aromas of undergrowth, mulberry, clove, pine, and plum. On the palate, it is soft and rounded, with ripe berry fruit framed by notes of undergrowth, cocoa, and coffee on the finish. A pleasant freshness keeps the wine balanced and gives it length. While approachable now, it should continue to develop gracefully over the next few years.

Production
Produced in the Berici Hills of Veneto, Campo del Lago comes from carefully selected vineyards that reflect the region’s hillside terroir and its capacity to give Merlot both ripeness and finesse. The grapes are hand-harvested, destemmed, and undergo maceration and fermentation for around 12 days in vertical vats. The wine is then aged for 12 months in used barriques, with no fining and only light filtration before bottling.

Food & Serving
This is an excellent partner for roasted meats, grilled beef, lamb, mushroom dishes, and aged hard cheeses. Serve at around 16–18°C to bring out its aromatic depth and supple texture. Decanting is optional, but a short decant can help open the wine if enjoyed young.
