Description
Il Marroneto’s Brunello di Montalcino is a beautifully expressive Sangiovese that captures both power and finesse. From one of Montalcino’s most admired producers, it offers a compelling mix of old-school elegance, vivid fruit, and lifted complexity that has helped define the estate’s reputation.
Tasting Notes
In the glass, it shows the classic depth and brightness expected from great Brunello, with aromas of crushed sour cherries, dried violets, cedar, and a subtle thread of incense and spice. The bouquet is layered and refined, with a graceful, almost ethereal perfume that continues to open with time.
On the palate, the wine is silky and seamless, yet impressively concentrated. Wild strawberry, raspberry sauce, and a tangy citrus edge run through the wine, framed by firm, precise tannins and a vivid mineral streak. It has excellent aging potential and will reward patience over many years, developing even greater nuance and depth in bottle.
Production
Crafted from Sangiovese grown in the Montalcino area of Tuscany, this Brunello reflects the region’s warm days, cool nights, and mineral-rich soils, which help preserve freshness and aromatic lift. The wine is produced with a careful, traditional-minded approach that emphasizes purity, balance, and site expression, resulting in a wine that feels both structured and graceful.
Food & Serving
This Brunello is an ideal match for braised beef, roast lamb, game, truffle dishes, and rich mushroom-based pasta. Serve at 16–18°C, and decant for at least 1–2 hours if drinking young to allow the aromatics and structure to fully unfold.
Producer
Il Marroneto is one of Montalcino’s most respected wineries, known for producing Brunello with remarkable elegance, precision, and longevity. The estate has earned a strong following among collectors and enthusiasts for its distinct style, particularly from its prized single-vineyard wines, and is widely regarded as a benchmark producer in the region.
