Il Marroneto’s 2020 Brunello di Montalcino pairs depth with an unusually graceful, floral character. Made from Sangiovese in one of Tuscany’s most celebrated appellations, it offers a poised expression of Brunello rather than relying on sheer power.

Tasting Notes
A vivid ruby-red colour leads to an elegant, perfumed nose in which floral notes take precedence over fruit. On the palate, the wine is soft and silky, with a polished texture and the depth expected of Brunello di Montalcino. Brunello is well suited to bottle ageing, and the 2020 has the potential to develop further with time. Its precise drinking window is not specified.

Production
Alessandro Mori describes the 2020 fermentation as particularly energetic, with pressure building beneath the cap of grape skins. Fermentation temperatures of 36–38°C helped preserve the wine’s ruby colour and floral perfume; at the end of fermentation, the skins were gently moistened by hand with a hose. Vineyard conditions and harvesting methods are not specified.

Food & Serving
Serve at around 16–18°C with roast lamb, bistecca alla Fiorentina, slow-cooked beef or mushroom-based dishes. A gentle decant of about an hour can help the wine open up, particularly if enjoyed young.
