Il Bioselvatico Toscana Rosso 2022 is an organic Sangiovese from the heart of Valdichiana, near Arezzo, offering a distinctly Tuscan expression with purity, structure, and charm. Crafted by a winery devoted to respecting nature and reviving old Burgundian traditions, it brings together regional character and a thoughtful, hands-on approach. This is a wine with real personality—one that speaks clearly of place, passion, and tradition.
Tasting Notes
In the glass, it shows the lively, inviting character expected of Sangiovese, with a ruby-toned appearance that hints at freshness and energy. The nose opens with a generous mix of ripe red fruit aromas, giving way to nuances that feel earthy and authentic rather than polished or overly extracted.
On the palate, the wine has bright acidity, medium body, and a firm sense of character, making it both food-friendly and expressive. It finishes with a balanced, honest profile that suggests it will drink well now, while also having the structure to gain a little extra nuance over the next few years.
Production
Produced from Sangiovese grown in Valdichiana near Arezzo, the wine comes from a vineyard shaped by a philosophy of working in harmony with nature. The site benefits from Tuscany’s warm climate and local soils, which help preserve freshness while bringing out the grape’s natural depth and savory edge. Harvesting and vinification are guided by a respect for traditional methods, with the estate drawing inspiration from older Burgundian traditions and an organic approach to winemaking.
Food & Serving
This is an excellent match for classic Tuscan and Mediterranean dishes, especially grilled meats, roast chicken, tomato-based pastas, mushroom risotto, and aged hard cheeses. Serve it slightly cool, around 16–18°C, to keep the fruit and acidity in balance. Decanting is not essential, but a short aeration can help the wine open up beautifully, especially if enjoyed young.
Producer
Il Bioselvatico is a young Tuscan producer, founded in 2018, with a clear commitment to organic farming and a philosophy rooted in respect for the land. Based in Valdichiana near Arezzo, the winery has quickly built an identity around authenticity, nature, and a return to traditional values. Its approach reflects both regional pride and a desire to craft wines with soul, rather than simply technical precision.
