Henri Clerc Gevrey-Chambertin Vieilles Vignes 2021 is a beautifully expressive Pinot Noir from one of Burgundy’s most celebrated villages. Sourced from old vines across some of Gevrey-Chambertin’s finest sites, it offers impressive depth, precision, and a distinctly noble character that reflects the area’s long winemaking heritage.

Tasting Notes
In the glass, it shows a bright, ruby-red colour with good concentration. The nose is layered and inviting, opening with red cherries, redcurrant, and blackcurrant, followed by violets, liquorice, tar, and a faint hint of menthol. The palate mirrors the aromatic profile with vivid red fruit at the core, lifted by orange peel, earthy nuances, and a fine, structured frame. The old-vine fruit brings extra intensity and balance, while the oak ageing adds subtle spice and texture without dominating the wine. It has the poise to develop further over the next several years, gaining more savoury complexity with time.

Production
This wine comes from old Pinot Noir vines in Gevrey-Chambertin, a village known for its powerful, site-driven reds and outstanding terroir. The grapes were fully destemmed before pressing to preserve pure fruit expression and avoid harsh tannins. After fermentation in stainless steel, the wine matured for 14 months in French oak barrels, with one-third new oak, adding finesse and complexity to the final blend.

Food & Serving
An excellent match for roasted duck, game birds, mushroom-based dishes, beef tenderloin, or classic Burgundy-style fare. Serve at around 16–18°C to allow the aromatics and structure to show at their best, and consider decanting for 30–60 minutes if opening young to let the wine fully unfold.
