Tasting Notes
In the glass, Haut-Brion 2021 is typically deep ruby in colour, with a polished, elegant profile rather than overt concentration. The nose is poised and layered, offering dark berries, cassis, plum, cedar, tobacco leaf, graphite and subtle floral nuances, all framed by the estate’s distinctive smoky, earthy character. On the palate, it is beautifully composed, with fine-grained tannins, fresh acidity and a silky texture that carries flavours of blackcurrant, red cherry, spice, cocoa and crushed stone. The finish is long, refined and harmonious. This is a wine built for patience, with excellent aging potential and the ability to evolve gracefully over many years.

Production
Haut-Brion comes from gravelly, well-drained soils in Pessac-Léognan, one of Bordeaux’s most distinctive terroirs, where warmth and mineral complexity help the grapes ripen with precision. The grapes are carefully harvested by hand and sorted rigorously before vinification, with each parcel handled to preserve the estate’s signature finesse and aromatic complexity. The blend is then matured in French oak barrels, a process that adds structure, nuance and exceptional aging capacity.

Food & Serving
This wine pairs beautifully with classic dishes such as roast lamb, beef tenderloin, duck breast, truffle risotto or game birds, as well as aged hard cheeses. Serve at around 16–18°C and consider decanting for 1–2 hours if drinking young, to allow the wine’s aromatics and structure to open fully.
