Hahn Family Wines’ Founder’s Cabernet Sauvignon 2022 is a bold, fruit-forward California red that brings together generosity, structure, and polish in one approachable bottle. Originally rooted in Monterey County and now shaped largely by fruit from Lodi, it reflects a smart match between Cabernet Sauvignon and a terroir known for ripeness, depth, and balance.

Tasting Notes
Deep ruby in the glass, this Cabernet opens with an inviting, ripe aromatic profile of plum, black cherry, blackberry, and boysenberry. Behind the dark fruit come layered notes of vanilla, leather, and toasted oak, giving the wine a classic California Cabernet feel without losing freshness. On the palate, it is round, full-bodied, and richly textured, with supple fruit framed by supportive oak and a satisfying, warming finish. The wine’s structure suggests it can age short to medium term, though it is already generous and enjoyable now for those who prefer a softer, more developed style.

Production
The majority of the grapes come from vineyard parcels in Lodi, Central California, with additional fruit sourced from across the state to achieve the desired balance and house style. Lodi’s warm days, cool nights, and stony soils help Cabernet Sauvignon ripen slowly and evenly, building concentration while preserving natural freshness. The small stones in the vineyards absorb heat during the day and release it at night, contributing to steady maturation and added complexity in the fruit.

Food & Serving
This is an excellent match for a well-seared steak, roast beef, or grilled lamb, and it also pairs especially well with pepper steak for a richer, more indulgent meal. Serve slightly below room temperature, ideally around 16–18°C, and decanting for about 30–60 minutes can help open up the wine’s dark fruit and oak-driven layers.
