Tasting Notes
In the glass, it shows the bright, transparent colour typical of high-quality Pinot Noir, with an inviting and polished look. The nose opens with ripe wild raspberries, cherry stone, fruit cake, gentle herbs, and a subtle hint of damp forest floor, giving it both lift and earthy complexity. The palate is elegant and finely structured, with raspberry and cherry at the core, supported by a pleasant mineral edge from Westhofen’s limestone soils. Long aging in large oak adds texture rather than overt woodiness, helping the wine feel juicy, fresh, and fully mature while still carrying enough balance to develop further over the next few years.

Production
The fruit comes from Gutzler’s two best vineyard sites in Westhofen, in Rheinhessen, where limestone-rich soils contribute freshness, precision, and a distinct mineral signature. After rigorous hand sorting, only the grapes deemed suitable for this blend were selected, and the wine was then aged for an extended period in large oak casks to preserve finesse and structure rather than heavy oak influence.

Food & Serving
This is a versatile Pinot Noir that works beautifully with duck breast, roasted poultry, mushroom dishes, veal, or grilled salmon. Serve it slightly chilled at around 14–16°C, and decant briefly if desired, especially if you want to open up the wine’s earthy and floral nuances.
