Gustavshof’s Orange vom Chardonnay 2021 is a distinctive orange wine that shows how beautifully Chardonnay can be transformed through extended skin contact. Made in a natural style with biodynamic farming and no added sulphur, it offers a layered, textural expression that feels both contemporary and rooted in traditional winemaking.

Tasting Notes
In the glass, the wine shows a yellow-orange hue with a subtle brownish tint and a lightly hazy appearance, reflecting its minimal filtration. The nose opens with acacia honey, dried apricots, and a lively, lifted freshness. On the palate, it is anything but muted: vibrant and energetic, with crisp acidity, notes of orange peel, citrus, gooseberry, and a touch of vanilla. A gentle richness gives the wine some weight, while a saline edge and a finish of ripe apple sweetness add length and complexity. It should drink well now, but its structure suggests it can also gain further nuance over the next few years.

Production
This Chardonnay-based orange wine comes from biodynamically cultivated grapes in Germany and is produced with several weeks of skin contact after pressing. The extended maceration draws out both colour and aromatic complexity, while the wine is lightly filtered and made without sulphur, preserving its natural character and textural depth.

Food & Serving
Serve lightly chilled at around 10–12°C. It pairs especially well with aromatic dishes, roasted poultry, aged cheeses, grilled vegetables, seafood with richer sauces, and spiced Asian cuisine. Decanting is recommended to help the wine open up and show its full aromatic range.
