Tasting Notes
Expect a deeply colored red with remarkable concentration and a polished, almost brooding intensity. The bouquet typically unfolds with black fruit, smoked meat, violets, olive tapenade, pepper, and a refined mineral edge, developing beautifully in bottle. On the palate, La Turque is powerful yet seamless, showing layered dark berry fruit, savory spice, graphite, and the hallmark Rhône blend of structure and elegance. Tannins are firm but fine-grained, and the wine is built for long aging; well-stored bottles can evolve for decades, gaining complexity, silkiness, and tertiary nuance over time.

Production
La Turque comes from a prized single vineyard site in Côte-Rôtie, where steep granite and schist-rich slopes, abundant sun exposure, and the influence of the Rhône create ideal conditions for Syrah. Harvesting is typically done by hand due to the extreme hillside terrain, ensuring careful selection of fruit. Vinification at Guigal is known for its meticulous approach, with extended maceration and long aging in oak to build structure, depth, and aromatic complexity. The result is a wine that combines concentration with balance and the ability to mature gracefully for many years.

Food & Serving
This is a wine best served with richly flavored dishes such as roast lamb, braised beef, game, duck, or dishes with wild mushrooms and herbs. Serve at around 16-18°C and consider decanting for at least an hour, especially if the bottle has been resting for a long time, to allow the aromas to open fully.
