Tasting Notes
In the glass, La Landonne 1999 is deep, dark and saturated, with the kind of inky colour you expect from a serious Syrah. The nose is intensely layered, offering cassis, licorice, smoked game and roasted herbs, with a beautifully perfumed character that unfolds over time. On the palate, it is full-bodied and densely packed, but never heavy. The texture is seamless, the tannins are sweet and polished, and the finish is long, precise and persistent. This is a wine that has already shown remarkable complexity, yet it still has the structure to continue evolving gracefully over time.

Production
La Landonne comes from a prized single vineyard in Côte-Rôtie, where steep terraces and the region’s granite and schist soils create ideal conditions for Syrah of depth, spice and lift. The vineyard’s exposure and rugged terroir help produce grapes with high concentration and intense aromatic character. Harvesting is carried out carefully to preserve quality, and vinification is designed to emphasize richness, purity and balance.

Food & Serving
This is a superb match for rich, savoury dishes such as lamb, venison, beef short ribs or game, as well as slow-cooked dishes with herbs and black olives. It should be served at around 16–18°C, and decanting is highly recommended if the bottle is being opened now, to allow the wine to fully раскры its aromatics and soften its structure.
