Tasting Notes
In the glass, Guidalberto 2023 shows a deep, vibrant ruby colour with youthful purple reflections at the rim, signalling both concentration and freshness. The nose opens with expressive aromas of dark berries—blackcurrant, blackberry and ripe plum—interwoven with red cherry, hints of violet and subtle Mediterranean herbs. With a little time in the glass, more complex notes of cedarwood, tobacco leaf, sweet spice and a touch of vanilla and cocoa emerge, reflecting its time in French and American oak. On the palate, the wine is medium to full-bodied, polished and supple, with Cabernet Sauvignon bringing structure and length, while Merlot contributes a plush, velvety core of fruit. Flavours of dark cherry, black plum and cassis are framed by finely grained, silky tannins and a vibrant, refreshing acidity that keeps everything in balance. Discreet notes of cedar, tobacco, and spice add layering without dominating the fruit. The finish is long and persistent, marked by freshness and finesse rather than sheer power. Production
Guidalberto is born in the coastal terroir of Bolgheri, in southwestern Tuscany, where maritime breezes, abundant sunshine, and stony, well-drained soils create ideal conditions for Bordeaux varieties. The vineyards benefit from warm days and cooler nights, preserving aromatic freshness and natural acidity. Grapes are harvested by hand at optimal ripeness, with rigorous selection in the vineyard and at the winery to ensure only the healthiest, most expressive fruit is used. Fermentation takes place in temperature-controlled stainless steel tanks, a choice that protects purity of fruit and aromatic definition. After vinification, the wine is aged for around 15 months in a combination of French and American oak barrels, a portion of which is new, adding gentle spice, structure and complexity without overshadowing the varietal character and the Bolgheri terroir.

Guidalberto 2023 is a versatile food wine that shines alongside classic Tuscan and Mediterranean dishes. It pairs beautifully with grilled or roasted red meats, bistecca alla fiorentina, lamb chops with rosemary, slow-braised beef, and game birds. It also works wonderfully with rich pasta dishes such as ragù alla bolognese, pappardelle with wild boar, mushroom risotto, and aged cheeses like Parmigiano Reggiano or Pecorino Toscano. Serve at 16–18°C to highlight its balance of fruit and freshness. Younger bottles will benefit from 30–60 minutes in a decanter to allow the aromas to open fully and the tannins to soften, though it can be enjoyed straight from the bottle with a little time in the glass.
