Description

Gruaud Larose 2014 is a classic Saint-Julien from one of the Left Bank’s most respected estates, known for combining structure, depth, and elegance in a style that has long appealed to Bordeaux lovers. As a 2ème Grand Cru Classé from the historic 1855 classification, it represents both pedigree and a strong sense of place, with the kind of refined power and age-worthy balance that defines great claret.

Tasting Notes
In the glass, it typically shows a deep ruby color with youthful intensity and a graceful Bordeaux profile. The nose opens with blackcurrant, plum, cedar, graphite, tobacco, and subtle earthy notes, while the palate is medium to full-bodied, framed by firm yet polished tannins and a fresh line of acidity. The finish is long and savory, with dark fruit, spice, and classic Saint-Julien finesse lingering beautifully. While approachable in youth with proper aeration, this is a wine built for the cellar and should continue to develop complexity over the next decade or more.

Production
Sourced from the gravelly soils of Saint-Julien, the wine benefits from a terroir that is particularly well suited to Cabernet Sauvignon, helping to produce wines with precision, freshness, and structure. Harvesting is typically carried out parcel by parcel at optimal ripeness, followed by traditional vinification in temperature-controlled vats to preserve fruit purity and terroir expression.

Food & Serving
This is an excellent partner for lamb, beef tenderloin, roast duck, game birds, or mushroom-based dishes, as well as aged hard cheeses. Serve at around 16–18°C, and decant for 1–2 hours if opening now to allow the wine to fully раскры its aromatics and soften its structure.

Producer
Gruaud Larose is one of Saint-Julien’s most storied estates, with roots dating back to the 18th century and a long-standing reputation for producing classically styled Bordeaux wines. As a Second Growth in the 1855 Classification, the château has earned a place among the region’s elite, and it continues to be recognized for wines that combine consistency, longevity, and unmistakable Left Bank character.
