Griffons de Pichon Baron is the second wine of Château Pichon Baron, one of Pauillac’s most respected names, presented here in an impressive 3L double magnum format. The 2020 vintage captures the power, precision, and depth that make Bordeaux’s Left Bank so highly sought after, while offering a more approachable expression of the estate’s character.

Tasting Notes
In the glass, it typically shows a deep ruby-purple colour, hinting at concentration and youth. Aromas tend to open with blackcurrant, blackberry, cedar, graphite, and subtle spice, often with a touch of tobacco and dark plum as it evolves in the glass. On the palate, expect a structured, full-bodied wine with ripe dark fruit, firm but polished tannins, and a mineral, savoury edge that reflects its Pauillac origins. The larger double magnum format supports especially graceful ageing, and the wine should continue to gain complexity over many years in bottle.

Production
Produced in Pauillac, on Bordeaux’s gravelly Left Bank, the wine benefits from well-draining soils that encourage depth and finesse in the fruit. Grapes are typically harvested with careful selection to preserve balance and ripeness, and vinified in the classic Bordeaux style with attention to extraction, structure, and elegance.

Food & Serving
This wine pairs beautifully with roasted lamb, entrecôte, beef fillet, venison, or mushroom-based dishes. Serve at around 16–18°C, and decant for 1–2 hours if drinking young to help the aromatics unfold and soften the tannins.
