Description

A single-parcel Pinot Noir sparkling wine from Auerbacher Höllberg, made in the Hessische Bergstraße and bottled as Brut Nature with no dosage. The vineyard’s Pinot Noir vines were planted in 1996, and the 2019 vintage earned 96 points from Falstaff and 96+ points from Robert Parker.

Production
The grapes come from a west-facing plateau parcel at 180 metres above sea level, where loess loam overlies diorite. The Pinot Noir underwent spontaneous primary fermentation and malolactic fermentation in French oak, followed by 45 months on the lees. Bottled with zero dosage, it was disgorged on 23 May 2024; the production was limited to 933 bottles.

Food & Serving
Its Brut Nature style should suit oysters, shellfish, smoked trout, or roast poultry, as well as mild, creamy cheeses. Serve well chilled, around 8–10°C. Decanting is not generally necessary; allow the wine a few minutes in the glass to open.
