Production
The fruit for Cornerstone Grenache 2005 comes from old, low-yielding bush vines in the Barossa Valley, rooted in classic warm-climate terroir of varied sandy loams, clay, and ironstone over ancient subsoils. This combination of old vines and poor, well-drained soils naturally limits yields, concentrating flavour and structure in the grapes. Harvest is typically carried out by hand at optimal ripeness to preserve fruit integrity and select only the best bunches. In the cellar, the must is traditionally fermented to extract colour, flavour, and tannin, followed by maturation in a combination of new and seasoned French oak barrels. This careful use of oak adds complexity and texture without overwhelming the Grenache’s character, allowing the wine’s purity and power to shine.

This generous, richly flavoured Grenache pairs beautifully with robust, savoury dishes. Think slow-cooked lamb shoulder with rosemary, duck confit, grilled venison, or hearty casseroles and stews; it also works well with spice-inflected cuisine such as Moroccan tagines, chargrilled meats with Middle Eastern spices, and mature hard cheeses.
