Grattamacco Bolgheri L'Alberello is an expressive organic red from one of Bolgheri’s true trailblazers, capturing both the character and history of this celebrated Tuscan zone. Crafted from Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc, and Petit Verdot, it offers a refined blend of coastal freshness, depth, and structure, with a style that speaks clearly of its place and the estate’s pioneering role in the region.

Tasting Notes
In the glass, it shows a bright ruby-red color that hints at its freshness and elegance. The nose opens with intense aromas of cherry and mulberry, followed by noble herbal notes, graphite, and cigar box, unfolding in a sweet, layered aromatic progression. On the palate, the wine feels enveloping and generous, with a glyceric texture, warm fruit, and fine-grained tannins that give shape without aggression. The finish is persistent and polished, suggesting very good aging potential, where the fruit and savory nuances should continue to integrate beautifully over time.

Production
Produced in Bolgheri, Tuscany, this wine benefits from the area’s coastal influence and well-drained soils, which help preserve balance and aromatic lift in a naturally ripe style. The estate works organically, and the vineyard expression is centered on low-yield, quality-focused farming that supports concentration and precision. Vinification is carried out to preserve purity of fruit and the distinctive mineral-herbal profile that defines the wine.

Food & Serving
This is a versatile food wine that pairs especially well with grilled steak, roasted lamb, game bird, or rich pasta dishes with wild mushroom or meat ragù. It also works beautifully with aged hard cheeses. Serve at around 16–18°C, and decant for about 1 hour if possible to allow the aromatics and tannins to fully open.

Grattamacco was founded in 1977 and is widely regarded as the second winery established in Bolgheri, making it one of the region’s foundational producers. It played an important pioneering role in bringing attention to Bolgheri’s vineyards and potential, and today remains a respected name known for quality, identity, and a strong sense of place.
